Designer Genevieve Gorder never stays in any box - in fact during her run on Trading Spaces she rarely wore shoes. In her new show Dear Genevieve, Gen takes the design show one step further and is using 21st century technology to help viewers fall back in love with their homes.
After graduating from the School of Visual Arts, Genevieve’s career took an unexpected turn: an internship and later hosting position on MTV. But her love of all things color ultimately drew her back to the design world.
Breaking into TV with TLC’s Trading Spaces, Gen used unlikely inspirations (my favorites: an artichoke, an avocado and a trinket from one of her many world travels) to add color and personality to each team’s room. Her end products always featured a personal touch from each family capturing a memorable moment in art or photos. These memorable moments ultimately inspired her very own show Town Haul which broke the Trading Spaces mold from one room to an entire community.
Dear Genevieve, which debuted new years day, pairs Genevieve’s unique style with an interactive website. Through emails an online submissions, she finds the source hampering a family from using the room and creates a space to create more memorable moments.

I’ve always liked Genevieve’s style, and it certainly comes through in this new endeavor of hers. I’m watching her new show right now, and it’s great!
